mine is the story of a lady who was witnessing alone in an apartment building, and aparently she knocked on the door of some rapists/murderers/drug dealers......whatever......she was "saved" by two angels, only visible to the attackers, that accompanied her on that visit.

The funniest one I heard of was from a story posted here sometime back about the Smurf doll in the KH. Some child brought it in and during the meeting the Smurf said "enough of this shit" and walked out. I recall the poster saying even the Smurf doll knew shit when he heard it. LOL

A girl here at work told me about the story and she couldn't get over how controlling they were but it was as big of a shock to me as the dubs are just like that. You are right, outsiders don't understand how controlling the dubs really are. That is why it is very important to get the word out to any unsuspecting innocent people that may get suck into the borg.

as i was one of those people who were around during the build-up to 1975, i thought that some of the newer converts might be interested to see how the society arrived at this date with such confidence.. firstly, we need to see how 1914 figures in this.
we need to appreciate, that although the date 1914 is arrived at retrospectively - that is it was assumed initially to be the date of armageddon, only later was it re-written as the date when satan was thrown out of heaven and jesus ascended to his throne.. the society tied this in with the scripture this generation will by no means pass away until all these things occur, assumed that a generation was the average life-span of 70 years, tacked it onto 1914 to arrive at 1984 but also mentioned that some would live to 80 years owing to special strength, then mentioned that this generation would by no means pass away so that quite a wide time slot was available for armageddon to arrive.
this window of time then provided endless opportunities for jws to be kept in a permanent state of anticipation as various events unfolded.
Sure it happened and the WTBS was behind it all. I remember quitting school and going pioneering in the winter of 74 because the time was so short. How a brother that studied with us impressed on us the importance of getting baptized because the time was so short and we would never see our 20's in this old system. How a elders wife in the 1968 told us that we would probably not even see 1970 in this Old System of things. I could go on and on with stories like this but yet it was all in our heads. The society never discouraged it but promoted it through assemblies etc. I was there and seen what they did and I will never forget and to my dying breath I will make sure that others won't forget it either.

one of my brothers in an elder in his congregation and the other is a co. they have both told me that they don't beieve that jehovah's witnesses have the truth and they are aware of the hypocrisy in the organization but they don't care.
they will never renounce their membership in this organization.
when asked why they say that they love the adulation given to them by the brothers.. the are always the first to be invited to the homes of the friends, they are sought out for advise and it makes them feel like big, important men.. the truth is that this organizaation does serve a purpose for some people.
I have heard some say "Where will I go".. Even though they may know that everything is not right with the organization they are satisfied to say nothing and stay in it. I have said that most like elders are only there for the prestige of the position or for social reasons. What made me really think was when I was a teenager and someone at the door said to this sister something to the effect that your hope for the future was just a dream. She responded with something like "well it maybe a dream but it is a nice dream". That's all people its only a dream and "We are such stuff as dreams are made of."

i heard a jw sister say how she pioneered because she felt so guilty.
My experience also. Every one of my dub family use this to get there own way in everything. "If you don't do what I want you to do you will hurt me". It is very hard for one even after they leave to change their behavior to stop thinking that way. I was talking to one JW just last year and the two things I noticed was she tried to change my way of thinking with making me feel guilty. Because of this they all have such low self esteem. The only reason I have higher self extreme is because I eventually got away from their mind control.

You are so right. I only did what the Jdubs told me to out of guilt. I am sure that thousands of others felt the same way as we did. The thing I found out though was that no matter how much you gave it was never good enough. They were always raising the "bar" level. So either you try to keep up with it and feel like a lowly piece of crap or you give up and tell them where to stick it.

I could never understand that concept of Fearing God whereas Jesus taught a God of love and kindness. It always seemed to me as a contradiction.
